The sea and a snowy mountain can seem like separate worlds. The journey of water gives us another way to see them: connected through air, clouds, and rivers.

The ocean contributes moisture to the monsoon system. NASA describes summer monsoon winds carrying moist air toward the eastern Himalayas, where precipitation falls as rain or snow. This is one connection between ocean conditions and mountain weather, rather than a claim that the ocean alone controls the entire range.

ICIMOD describes how seasonal weather, snow, and ice are part of the region’s water systems, with rivers continuing downstream across national boundaries. A mountain belongs to more than the view from its summit.

Distance does not mean disconnection.

For Earth Love, this is an invitation to widen our attention. We can respect the sea, the mountains, and the lives between them without reducing any of those places to what they provide for us.
