Privacy & Cookies
Last updated: 16 October 2026. This notice applies to Earth Love at 1010monky.se and its private publishing panel.
Who is responsible?
Matias Kallionpää Ikonen operates Earth Love and is responsible for personal data collected through this website. For privacy questions or requests, use our private contact form and write “Privacy request” as the subject. Include a way to reply if you want a response. A public comment is not a private contact channel.
What we collect and why
- Comments: your nickname, comment, optional country or region and optional email. Your approved nickname, location and comment become public; email stays private. We use the permission you give in the comment form to review and publish your contribution. You can request its removal.
- Join requests: your name or nickname, email address or phone number, and any location or message you provide. At least one contact method is required so the owner can contact you about your request. We use your form consent to store and review the request and contact you about it. These records stay private in the publishing panel; they do not automatically create accounts or send emails.
- Contact messages: your name, message and optional email. We use your form consent to review the message. These records stay private in the publishing panel.
- Polls and abuse prevention: a random browser identifier, ballot choice and submission times help keep votes consistent and limit repeated submissions. These essential functions use our legitimate interest in running a safe, useful website. The identifier is not an IP address and is not used for advertising or country statistics.
- Visitor and country statistics, only if you accept: we count unique consenting browsers and page views. After you accept the updated visitor statistics choice, a first-party random browser cookie is stored for up to 180 days. We store a server-keyed hash of that identifier with the date and approximate country for up to 365 days to deduplicate visitors across dates, alongside aggregate country page views. We also store the hashed identifier with the acceptance time and notice version as evidence of your choice for up to 365 days. These hashes are pseudonymous personal data, not anonymous data. No names, raw identifiers, IP addresses, page addresses or browsing histories are saved in statistics. Choosing Essential only prevents collection. Different devices, expired or cleared cookies can count the same person more than once; blocked cookies can affect counts. Country is estimated locally from the connection IP, which is not saved in statistics. VPNs and mobile networks can make country estimates inaccurate.
- Security and administration: restricted administrator accounts and technical error logs help protect the website. Error logs can contain connection details, including IP addresses. We rely on our legitimate interest in security for this processing. Routine web access logging is disabled for Earth Love.
How long information stays
Approved comments remain with their article until they are removed or the article is deleted. Unpublished comments, join requests and contact messages are kept while review or follow-up is needed, then removed by the site administrator. You can ask for earlier removal. Optional country totals and pseudonymous visitor/date/country records are retained for up to 365 days and cleaned daily. The visitor cookie expires after 180 days. Withdrawing statistics consent removes the current browser cookie and its linked visitor records; country page-view aggregates cannot be linked back to you and remain. Clearing cookies first prevents us from locating records by that browser identifier; remaining records expire automatically. Technical web error logs are rotated daily with 14 archived rotations. Access to private records is limited to authorised staff.
Who can receive data?
Approved comments are visible to readers. Authorised staff can review private submissions. Our VPS hosting provider supports the infrastructure and may process technical data needed to provide that service. The country database is stored locally: your connection IP is not sent to DB-IP or another country-lookup service. We do not sell submissions or use an advertising tracker. External links open other organisations' websites, which have their own privacy practices.
Your rights
Where the GDPR applies, you can request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and, where applicable, a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Some rights have legal exceptions. No automated decision here produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Use the contact form to make a request. Explain which contribution or message is yours; we may need proportionate information to verify ownership. We aim to respond within one month, subject to the GDPR's permitted extensions. You may complain to Sweden's privacy authority, IMY, or your relevant supervisory authority.
Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small values stored by your browser. The cookies below are set by 1010monky.se (first party). Their value, purpose and lifetime are listed here. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The optional first-party visitor cookie is listed below.
| Name | Purpose and information stored | Lifetime | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
earth_love_privacy | Remembers your essential-only or statistics choice and notice version. | 180 days | Earth Love (first party) |
csrftoken | Security token used to protect forms from forged requests. | Up to one year | Earth Love (first party) |
earth_love_reader | Signed random browser token used to keep poll votes consistent and limit repeated comments or submissions. It is not an IP address and is not used for analytics or advertising. | Up to one year | Earth Love (first party) |
earth_love_visitor | Optional signed random browser identifier, used only after accepting visitor statistics to count distinct browsers; a keyed hash is stored with the date and country. | Up to 180 days | Earth Love (first party) |
sessionid | Session reference used for private sign-in and short form receipts; session data is stored on the server. | Up to 14 days | Earth Love (first party) |
Only after you choose “Accept visitor statistics”, the server sets the earth_love_visitor cookie, uses the connection IP locally to estimate a country, increments country page views and records a pseudonymous visitor hash with the date and country. The IP is not saved in statistics. Earlier country-only consent does not authorize this new cookie; a fresh choice is required. Statistics are optional and can be stopped at any time using Cookie settings; linked visitor records are removed on withdrawal, while aggregate page-view totals remain.
The under-construction notice dismissal is stored in sessionStorage for the current tab session, not in a cookie. It is removed when the tab session ends. External links leave Earth Love; other sites may use their own storage.
Swedish cookie rules require clear information and prior consent for non-essential cookies, with an exception for cookies strictly needed for a service you request. You can say no as easily as yes and change your choice later. Where cookie-related processing involves personal data, the GDPR also applies. See PTS guidance on cookies, the GDPR text, and IMY guidance on consent.
A browser session preference remembers when you dismiss the under-construction popup. It is stored in session storage for this tab session, without an analytics identifier. Closing the tab or clearing its session storage removes it.
Change your choice
Current choice: No choice yet — statistics are off. Choose “Reject optional statistics” to stop future statistics collection. The current browser cookie and its linked visitor records are removed on withdrawal; country page-view totals remain. The site also respects Global Privacy Control for statistics collection.
You can return here from “Cookie settings” in the footer at any time.
